Hundreds benefit from latest vaginal mesh settlements

lawsuit justice

Hundreds of women in Canada have benefited from one of the latest vaginal mesh settlements, with the pay-outs understood to have reached a staggering $21.5m.

It has been reported that 325 women are involved in the settlement, with the case brought against Boston Scientific for failures to warn of the potential side-effects that patients may face. This is a common cause of action that also to for those claiming for personal injury compensation here in the UK, including for women that we represent.

News of this latest settlement is welcome by us as the worldwide fight for justice for tens of thousands of women goes on.

Growing vaginal mesh settlements

It’s encouraging to see growing numbers of vaginal mesh settlements around the world, from the multiple US victories to the huge success over in Australia too.

As these countries have separate jurisdictions to us, we can’t directly use the settlements to help us win compensation cases here in the UK. That being said, the successes are encouraging, and many of the legal arguments in other cases around the world are similar to the ones we use here. What we need to do is then apply the law as it is here to also achieve settlements for our clients too.

It’s understood that, like we have seen here and around the world, Canadian health authorities have been receiving reports of problems over the last decade. It’s pleasing to see that legal action has succeeded to allow some form of justice for the women suffering from problems and complications.

Compensation in the UK

We are pursuing vaginal mesh settlements here in the UK. We can represent claimants in England and Wales, although Scotland and Northern Ireland do have separate jurisdictions.

If you have been fitted with a pelvic mesh device and you have suffered problems and complications, you could be entitled to make a claim for compensation. Victims can claim for any pain, suffering and loss of amenity caused, as well as for additional losses and expenses as well. This is important, as some women are left unable to walk or work ever again, so we need to make sure people are looked after.

We offer No Win, No Fee representation for victims that claim with us, and if you’ve yet to speak to us about your options for justice, we may be able to help you too.

Free, no-obligation advice

We offer free, no-obligation advice for women in England and Wales who want to know more about how we can help and whether they can pursue a claim for personal injury compensation.

We’re already pursuing cases for vaginal mesh settlements and have been doing for a number of years.
