Pelvic mesh removal problems and what to do

mesh advice

Pelvic mesh removal problems can be serious, and with the issue of complete removal impossible in some cases, victims need to know their rights for justice.

We pursue claims for personal injury compensation for women who have suffered as a result of their transvaginal mesh surgery causing problems. We’re representing a number of women for legal cases, and the issue of removal problems can be factored into a claim.

There are a few things that we can do as part of the case to assist, and you can be eligible to claim damages where removal has been a problem as well.

Compensation for pelvic mesh removal problems

Your compensation claim can encompass pelvic mesh removal problems. When you make a claim, you can be entitled to damages for any pain, suffering and loss of amenity caused. Any pain and suffering associated with removal surgery can be considered, as can any further suffering that stems from difficulties removing your mesh implant.

In some cases, it can be impossible to completely remove the mesh, and some patients are left with lifelong complications. This is assessed as part of a claim, so the final compensation amount can factor in any suffering associated with removal issues, or the lack of ability to completely remove the mesh.

What about the costs of pelvic mesh removal?

The costs of pelvic mesh removal can also be factored into a claim as well. It’s all case-dependent, but we can include a claim for Special Damages which is for losses and expenses that can encompass the costs of private surgery.

We know that it can be hard for women to be able to access quick and quality vaginal mesh care with the NHS in some cases, so private treatment and surgery may be the best option. If you fund private surgery yourself, we can then try and claim back those costs as part of a case. Alternatively, we could ask the Defendant to fund the costs of private surgery before the case settles as well as part of an interim payment. This is a part payment you can receive early before a claim fully settles.

The Defendant doesn’t have to do this, and they can dispute any amounts that we look to claim as part of a case. But we can certainly fight it for you as part of our promise to maximise the compensation you receive!
