Fact: TVT mesh removal is hard for surgeons in the UK

One of the biggest problems is that TVT mesh removal is hard for surgeons in the UK, and indeed across the world.

We represent clients who are suffering horrendous complications because their TVT mesh implant has failed. In some cases, symptoms haven’t improved, and it’s a known issue that some women can be left with permanent problems because it can be difficult for surgeons to remove.

We can’t turn back the clock. All we can do is ensure you are able to access the best treatment possible and ensure that you receive justice through a claim for compensation.

Why mesh removal is hard for surgeons

TVT mesh removal is hard for surgeons because the implantation of the device is intended to be a permanent solution to the original problems. It’s not meant to be removed because it’s supposed to work, and work for life.

But it doesn’t always work for life. We know this. Although some have claimed that there are uncertainties over the long-term knowledge of mesh, there are plenty of examples out there of women being left with permanent problems.

When things go wrong with a mesh implant that’s intended to stay there, some women can be left with serious and lifelong complications.

Can anything be done?

Surgeons can attempt to remove as much of the mesh as they can. They can also attempt to repair any damage done to the surrounding tissue. This can be made even harder when tissue can grow around the original mesh implant as well.

Women are at risk of further injury and further complications through surgeons attempting to remove a failed mesh implant. Ultimately, TVT mesh removal is hard for surgeons, but in some cases, there can be improvements. A long-term treatment plan can eventually allay the symptoms for some, but there are no guarantees.

The fact remains that some women will be left with permanent damage.

Can you claim compensation?

If your TVT mesh removal involves a long-term effort, or where you’re left with permanent damage, we may be able to help you.

You may be eligible to make a claim for personal injury compensation. You may be able to claim damages for any pain, suffering and loss of amenity caused. You may also be able to claim for losses and expenses, which can be important if you’re left unable to work as a result of the complications you’re suffering from.

The sad fact remains that TVT mesh removal is hard for surgeons, and some women will be left with irreversible damage. You don’t have to suffer in silence, and we may be able to help you.
