This month, a Bard mesh recall has been initiated, and the company has decided to no longer produce and distribute their mesh devices.<\/p>\n

The mesh products made by Bard – C.R. Bard (Becton, Dickinson and Company (BD)) – are for treating POP (pelvic organ prolapse) and SUI (stress urinary incontinence). The recall is voluntary, and the advice so far is that the devices don\u2019t need to be removed. However, anyone who suffers with complications<\/strong><\/a> should seek advice immediately.<\/p>\n

The recall has been launched with immediate effect, according to the company\u2019s written publications.<\/p>\n

More about the Bard mesh recall<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Bard mesh recall means that the company is ceasing production and distribution of their mesh products in the European market. Devices are to be quarantined immediately, and relevant parties are to be made aware. A patient information sheet has been produced, but the company insists that the devices do not need to be removed, and additional action doesn\u2019t need to be taken with patients.<\/p>\n

In their letter, they say:<\/p>\n

\u201cBD is committed to advancing the world of health. Our primary objectives are patient and user safety and providing you with quality products. We apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you and thank you in advance for helping us to execute this product removal as quickly and effectively as possible.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The recall is said to involve all of Bard\u2019s urogynaecology mesh devices. it\u2019s understood that Bard wants to stop production as opposed to investing further resources to meet EU requirements.<\/p>\n

What now for the patients affected by the Bard mesh recall?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Patients who are caught up in the voluntary Bard mesh recall are being told that they do not require any additional medical attention.<\/p>\n

However, if anyone suffers from any mesh implant complications or problems<\/strong><\/a>, they should seek advice.<\/p>\n
